I installed the IPD HD Coils about 8 months ago and love them.
The factory coils seem to get hairline cracks in the insulators over time causing random misfires and when i was installing new spark plugs last year i notice mine were starting to crack so decided to upgrade.
The price for them is just a couple bucks more than the bosch ones so decided to go with IPD and have had no issues and notice better drive-ability, but new bosch coils probably would have had the same effect but happy with my IPD coils.
I just bought a set to be installed next week along with changing ALL driveline fluids including rear diff filter, spark plugs, fuel filter, replace last original driver side wheel bearing to refresh our 120k wagon. I recently did power steering fluid, antifreeze and brake fluid as well.
I also installed a set of the LED IPD license plate lights w/ new bulb holders.... give it that "new car" look since I will be driving this for many many more years....

Is there more to it?
Would replacing insulator boot remedy it - like a rebuild - http://www.ipdusa.com/products/4699/...rumbs=P0,P4675

I run the IPD coil pack on all of my cars. Started with my '01 when a coil pack failed at 122k. At 100k I have made it part of my routine maintence. Can I tell you there is a performance gain? No... But I have not had a failure either.
Answering your rebuild a coil question. The answer is no. Think of a coil as a transformer which consists of wire wound around a magnetic core. There are different windings which are insulated. Over time this breaks down. Replacing the outer insulator will do nothing... If the coil is shot only option is replacement. I always replace all coils at the same time, but know others do only the suspect coil. At 155k I would replace.
The hesitation could also be fuel related. Have you changed filter, run injector cleaner, pump etc.
My car is at 178K. It just had its first coil failure. No. 3, not that it matters...but the point is this: the coils last a long, long time. Replacing them before they fail is OCD.
IPD makes good stuff in general, but Bosch is the OES, and this is where I got mine: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Yes they do, some will say they last the life of the vehicle... But they do fail as noted...
Call it OCD... I call it avoiding needing a tow at an inopportune time... Murphy makes sure this kind of failure never occurs when I am driving... Only the wife.... $250 is piece of mind....
