Brake Light Switch Replacement

My outside Brake lights are only working every second time. The center Brake light works every time. Does this sound like the switch or the control module for the rear lights. If it is the switch, Can I replace the switch myself or will that cause a problem in the module?

Some members have traced the same brake light issue to a faulty relay. You can find more discussion about the relay in this thread. Contained in thread, is a link to a TSB which describes a brake relay recall that affects certain MY chassis.

I replaced the relay as well with 2 updated ones. Total Cost was 30 Bucks! Working great now.
