    Unhappy Helps for 2000 S80 T6?

Hey guys, I really need ur helps,
I have a 2000 S80 T6, yesterday when I got the oil change for the car in the dealer, the mechanic found the following problems:
Turbo return line seals ( told It's leaking )
    Steering rack ( told it's leaking )
    Alignment
Before I went to the dealer, I know the car has ABS fault, but it seems like getting worse, the above repairs cost me over $2,000, it is way too much, do I have to solve all the problems, or just keep driving as usual? If I have to get all the repairs, is there any other way to lower the cost rather than the dealer?

    Plez let me know ASAP!!

    Thanks a lot!

Default The sad truth is ...these cars cost a lot to own

When I got my XC (99) the guy I bought it from (my independent mechanic who also sells Volvos and only Volvos) told me he would not sell the S80 for those years due to the many problems he had experieiced with them as a mechanic. But like all Volvo's it's very, very expensive to fix...these cars are not for the faint of pocketbook. The costs (I'm assuming these are in CN dollars) don't seem high in relative terms to me. Your best bet is to try to find a good independent volvo mechanic vs. the dealer. You can also buy your own parts online for less that they will charge and a good independpent will use the parts you provide. There are a lot of folks with XCs from your neck of the woods so maybe post on the XC board asking for a good independent (are you in Toronto? -one of my favorite cities by the way)
As for alignments you can get those done a lot of places for less than the dealer. I'd definately deal with the leaks especially in the steering rack. As for the ABS can you live without it? It's not like you don't have brakes but you would not have functioning ABS. Check the board (search) for abs module repair. There are some much cheaper options avaialable for fixing the ABS module if that is what needs replacement. I think having this safety feature is one of the reasons to have newer cars. Thus when mine went I had fixed (but not by the dealer and saved 100s of dollars). Good luck.

Depending how much fluid is leaking, I will consider holding on the turbo return line. And have the steering rack/alignment done. The ABS is a must, it is extreme safety issue and I will highly recommend you to have that fix first. Not all your repairs such be done at the dealer, I will perfer a independent Volvo specialist to fix it the first time.

    Default S80 T6

The turbo drain seal leak is a common failure. The steering racks usally leak from the output seal and after replacement the alignment will be required.

I can probably cut your bill in half depending on the severity of the faults.

PM me if you need more info.
