We are new to all of this so if there is room at the table that would be great.
Cheers,

Drat - time has flown by just to darn quickly. I knew this gig was in Aug sometime and it appears I've missed it.

Yep, you missed a real good time Barry (and we missed you as well). I'm the first one to return as Faye had to fly out to Milwaukeee in the wee hours on Monday morning. The rest are coming back today.
The drive up to Tofino was just perfect for our XC's - twisty and full of beautiful scenery. Asides from some of the best meals yet (well chosen Patrick/Shana), most folks went surfing (line honours to the Jackson5 on this one) with the balance of us on sea-kayaks (Art/Sai in the lead on this aspect). A great time all-round and we are already planning on next year's gig.
Meanwhile I need to get into shape pronto as our Web Site leader looked 20 years younger and he is making veiled threats about a return engagement on the slopes this winter ...

After spending an awesome weekend in Tofino, we arrived back in Victoria late Monday afternoon.
As always, it was great to see some familiar faces as well as a few new ones. It was also nice to see Morrie (aka MGC) and his wife join the group for dinner on the eve before the drive up to Tofino.
After a hearty breakfast in James Bay Village the following morning, we left Victoria with plans to hook up with Tim (aka Jacksonfam5) and his family who live in the beautiful hamlet of Cobble Hill. From there, the group headed up island where we would eventually meet up in Tofino with our esteemed leader Coastal.
The accommodations at the Paddlers Inn were awesome. Thanks to Patrick for holding the rooms for us. Our waterfront room was exceptionally cozy and the selection of java in the kitchen was top notch!
Heading out on the #1 with Patrick (Northcoast XC) and John@CdnRockies

It was great seeing everyone again and the dinner in Victoria was very good. From the photos it looks like you had great weather and a nice time while in Tofino.
Ngoc and I enjoyed our short time with everyone and look forward to the next gathering.

Truly excellent time and great to meet everyone. What a truly fantastic group of people!
We rented surfboards for Sunday and Monday and had a blast. Jen appears to be a natural, with Chris close behind. They are already asking when we can go surfing again. Need to heal the various aches and pains first as Patrick can attest to!
A few more pictures below. The picture of Cox Bay shows all the surfers in the water.
Made a quick sidetrip to Uclulet on the way home. Hadn't been in years. Great little spot.
Left Marie to paddle the Broken Islands.
Cheers,
Tim.

No arguing with you there Tim. After seeing the photos that Patrick took, I can honestly say that those two looked right at home on their boards.Originally Posted by Jacksonfam5
I'm actually looking forward to seeing the one showing all four of you catch the same wave simultaneously!! Our day paddle to Meares Island was pretty tame compared to the groups’ surfing sessions.
Definitely an awesome trip! Sorry I wasn't able to partake in the Victoria events but man, did we ever have a great time in Tofino?!!
Was great meeting the Tim, Marie, Jen and Chris and thanks kindly for allowing us to visitor park at the resort. Seems like a minor thing, but being able to walk a couple hundred feet to the Cox Bay beach was awesome compared to having to park in a not so secure lot and walk 10 minutes.
Surf was perfect for longboarding (quite a bit bigger than the pics show so far ), and I'm super stoked to hear everyone enjoyed themselves on the water!
I left Tofino at 2:00pm on Monday afternoon, and didn't get home until midnight
Signage outside of Nanaimo said there was a possible wait for the 5:10 ferry so I gunned it and made it there by 5:05. Their information must have been off because I not only missed the 5:10, but also missed the 7:20 ferry by about 5 cars. Luckily Patrick and Shala strolled in with their reservation on the 9:25 ferry, so that helped the extra wait pass quickly.
Also, with respect to the car issue, I'm starting to think it's not a wheel bearing but a tire balancing problem. Hasn't gotten any worse since before the trip, and Art mentioned that when his went the sound was quite unbearable whereas mine's more of a dull roar.
Looking forward to the next one!
Taylor.
