This is one case where the Volvo didn't come out in second place to the deer. This photo was taken about 1/4 mile from the nearest paved road in a harvested corn field in Southern Wisconsin yesterday at 6pm. This 03XC has a factory skid plate, Volvo rear rack(tilts to open the hatch), rubber mats and plastic cargo liner. With ST's and the DSTC switch to off, it has no problem in the soggy corn fields saving a long drag or finding someone with a 4x4. We have been hunting these fields since early September for doves, geese and ducks. This XC have never failed to deliver us to and from the fields in safety and comfort.
Tomorrow the mats and liner will be removed, washed, dryed and replaced. The corn stocks will be pulled out from under the vehicle and the mud hosed off. After today since it is raining again, only a tractor will able to readily negotiate the fields.-Dick
