    Lightbulb Traveling to Ontario

I'm planning a trip with a couple of my friends to Ontario near the beginning of this summer (June 2007) and I was wondering if any of you were from around there and had any suggestions on where we should go.

We're coming from North Carolina, so we'll be passing through the Great Lakes region with our first destination of Toronto. Any suggestions?

I'm heading there to ontario to see some family at the end of the month, I'd rec stopping at niagra falls on the way back to NC, they have the falls of course lol, the casinos, the little strip, they have haunted scary houses where ppl scare you in the house, pretty fun. I went to one of those and scared the guy who was suppose to scare me, I hid and waited for him to find me rather than me walking into his trap, and he was shook when I caught him lol. If you happen to come back into the states thru buffalo, stop for some buffalo wings lol, its something I never get a chance to do, cause I like to just get to my destination, but good luck on your trip

Hi from the GTA (greater Toronto Area)....
Judging from your profile, I'd say head to the Queen St West area......Great indie music scene.... good food and great shopping......The beaches in Toronto don't count for much, there are some better ones an hour or so away, on smaller cleaner lakes as Lake Ontario has high bacteria counts in the summer. The Docks is a sports and entertainment complex that tends to draw large "attractive" crowds.....20-40 range.....golf/swim/go cart/drink/bands/.....Paramount Wonderland is a pretty good theme park about 45 minutes from downtown...Let me know what you're looking to do and I'll let you know were you can do it.......

Thanks for those suggestions guys, well appreciated.

MasFam, my buddies an I are looking to just experience some of Ontario (focused on GTA) at the lowest cost possible. We're college students, which can explain the desire for a low cost trip. Are there any good places to camp in Ontario during the late May early June time of year? We're looking for places to stay and we may have found a guy that we can stay a night or two with, but we're planning on this being a 6-7 day trip, and we were hoping that we might be able to camp.

It may be a bit out of the way but the Finger Lakes region of New York state is nice with several campgrounds. Very scenic and hilly. At the south end of Lake Seneca on top of a hill in farm country is Watkins Glen International Speedway. There also several (maybe even 25)wineries around the lakes.

If you have never travelled to Canada you may want to check on what can and cannot be brought in. They are very strict at the border with random car searches, etc. A lot of us forget that it is a foreign country.

The closest camping to downtown is Indian Line Campground.... http://www.trca.on.ca/parks_and_cult...e/visitorinfo/
I stayed there once a couple of years ago.....but it was in a 45' Prevost.... not really camping for us but there were alot of others in tents/trailers/RVs.... You should check out, University of Toronto / Ryerson University / York University /Humber College etc ..... they all have student residence that rent by the night for summer travels.....

Here are some links for cheap sleeps in Toronto....You don't have to be a student but most offer better rates if you are a student somewhere... these are around University of Toronto downtown..

I know there might be some cultural tension there, but do you know if Montreal has any accomidations such as those? That sounds like a great idea. Thanks for all the help.
