    For comparison:

Now Art's picture doesn't have my 13 year old son playing to the camera, but I can see some common design features, especially in the glass lines. I like the crease lines in the hood, but for some reason the car's "face" in Art's post reminds me of the new Audi/VW. We can hope it gets the bi-xenons of the V50, they are a HUGE improvement over the bi-xenons in my XC70, the high beams are awesome.

In this instance, I believe that an altered image of the new S80 was used. If you ask me, it’s still a pretty good representation of what we could expect.

    BTW, nice rig Jack!

The styling and potential new engine of the 08 XC70 will probably be very attractive. I agree will others that waiting a few years before purchasing sounds like a good idea. This is based on what I have read regarding early years of current model. Still, I am anxious to see the 08 model styling, performance and features.

Amen to that, the saddest day for me is the day after you pick up the new car. Sure you can enjoy your new ride but the hunt is over. Time to start looking for the next kill. Likely it's the hunter-gatherer instinct just channeled into our modern world.

Talking to the local dealership today - the feeling there (or maybe inside knowledge) is that the XC70 replacement will not be in '07, due to the number of other models/updates coming in, as other people have also suggested.

Had a look at the new S80 while I was there - it had a light interior and I was well impressed. Very subtle and smooth lines. Apparently the curve on the dashboard, over the instrument housing is meant to represent a snow-covered roof (possibly on a ski-chalet?) - I could see what they meant. ALSO, THE MODEL I SAW HAD AN AUX SOCKET!

I don't suppose you Canadians and northern state Americans and Europeans will be too impressed by the snow thing - but for us in temperate climates it could work well. Then again, the curve could be globally appealing.

If it's any indication of the new looks that'll be incorporated in other vehicles then they're on to a winner IMO.

Volvo has speeded up the launghing of new models like never before.
    C70, S80, C30 . . .
Don´t be surprised if the XC70 can be seen in late -07.

The new V70 can first be seen at Geneva car-show in the spring of -07 and rumours here in Sweden says that the early productionfocus on the XC-model are mainly due to the great interest in the model from the States. And probably you will get it before we here in Europe will have a glimpse at it
Before the summer of 2007. Sound nice huh !

And to "boarder" I must say:
I´ve always bought the very first cars of the V70 or XC70. With no problems what so ever. Exept for the usual problems after 4000/6000 km which comes with to wide wheels. Wearing of the balljoint and bushes in both front and rear. But I can live with that . . .

I´ve driven the new S80 several times and if the new V70/XC70 will just be just slightly like it, it will be a huge success.
