Default What to do in and around Silver Falls Statepark?

Anyone from Oregon (USA)? If so, have you been to the Silver Falls Statepark west of Salem (south of Silverton and XC member 'Oregon Trail')?

We're loading up the local 757 and flying out in early July for a wedding. We're looking for suggestion from Locals. Any suggestions? ;-)

Default Silver Falls and surrounding area

Silver Falls is a great place, for day trips or overnight. The Ten Falls trail is good for exploring, and has several opportunities for breaks or side excursions. Given all the rain this spring, the waterfalls should be in prime form. You can walk behind four of the falls, giving a very unique perspective and experience. If you have the time, try renting a cabin overnight in one of the campgrounds, however reservations are a MUST.

The official state site is here: http://www.oregonstateparks.org/park_211.php

Other activities: Day trip to Mt. St. Helens to see an active volcano. Try the ape caves (underground lava tubes) on the south side, or the visitor's centers on the north side. A long trip, but worth the drive. Get the unlimited mileage for the rental car!

Interested in vintage cars? July 8-10 are the Vintage and Historic races at our local racetrack, Portland International Raceway. The featured marque/car is the Shelby GT 350 R. If you are into vintage cars, this is the chance to walk among the pits without having to buy an additional (expensive) paddock pass.
