hello all,
I live near Ottawa and I imported this xc90 3.2 from Japan last April, with 84,000km/52,200miles cost of the car ($2,011cdn), shipping by ship, duty, taxes, shipping by train, shipping by truck, inspection, more taxes and licensing came to $9,270cnd approx $6,380usd. new battery, new tires, in the last 2 months. both engine and transmision are smooth, has a saggy headliner, got a quote of $600cdn for an upholster to replace. zero rust.
The rack started to make popping noises turning close to lock at low speed, told it needs a new rack $2,000+ rack/labour/tax, - and thats for a left hand unit, not right hand, can this one be rebuilt or I will have to order from maybe UK, Japan, Australia. yay. On Thursday morning it was -21c -6f on start up there was a new whiny noise, which hasn't gone away, seems like the power steering pump is going... remanufactured Bosch pump is $295us is an ok price, and then while you are there do the, water pump, thermostat, pulleys, tensioner, belt kit for $326us... plus lots of labour and taxes will make both repairs over $4,000cdn++
no isuues with the steering or its assist as you drive the car, but obviously on borrowed time.
to be sure I will have it checked out again
just not sure im seeing the value in this... would you repair or would you sell?
