So i have been on and off this forum for about 10-12 years and i have a 98 V70XC, this has probably been the most reliable car i have owned, no joke. I have maintained the car since we got it 13 years ago. About 4 years ago my wife spun the carb out on a pea gravel road (this stuff is like driving on ice or as close as i have got here in western Australia). The insurance company wrote it off as a financial write off and paid us out 5K AUD. I had previously wrecked another XC for parts so i was able to put it back on the road for a day of my own labour and then gave the car to a friend who loved it, fast forward to last Christmas, my friend said he didn't want it any more as it was getting too expensive to maintain and said i could have it back, so we discussed a price as he had bought some bolt on go-faster bit and the car was back in my ownership.
Now that the car is back in the family after a short break, i spent a couple of days fixing all the niggly problems that i had got back with the car like intermittent cental locking, oil leaks, remote central locking not working, ABS/TRAC lights etc etc. A couple of weeks ago i thought i'd have ago at bolting some of the go-faster bits on like the 16T turbo, decatted exhaust and white injectors, while i was doing this thought i'd just check the timing before starting up as the car was flat/poor acceleration and the guy i gave it to had the valve cover off trying to fix the leak from the valve cover. I noticed the intake cam was about 4 teeth advanced of the exhaust cam. So re done the timing while i was down there.
The turbo etc sounds good but only noticeable above 3-3.5K accelerating, not much cop for around town, so that will come off and the original turbo will go back on, i have an aftermarket intercooler and bought a snabb intake kit so gonna bolt on that this week some time and i'd thought i would treat the car to a suspension lift as i do use the car in some off Roady areas where there is a lot of sand and rocky bits around in the bush. The AWD does work and i replaced the front CV? on the north south drive shaft a few years ago.
As a family we love this car and the dogs too, thanks for taking the time to read this.
