    Default Ball Joint Question

What are the possible signs if ball joint need to be replaced. 04 XC70 167k. Nothing too obvious. No thunks or sound from wheels. Just wondering due to mileage.

If the boot is intact, and the joint is tight, you?re good.

To check - jack up the car, make sure it?s secure, and grab the wheel at the 12 and 6 o?clock position and give it a good yank. It should be tight. No movement. Put a pry bar between the bottom of the knuckle and the lower control arm. Same thing, no movement.

If there is movement, or the boot is damaged, you?re done, get a new ball joint.

    I do them in pairs.
