    Default '06 XC Recent Acquisition

I've been away for a while Mates but I couldn't stop looking at the possibilities out there. I just sold my '89 244 with 59K original miles and found a well cared for '06 XC to fill the Volvo Void.

She's gonna need some TLC and a few personality tweaks but I believe she has good bones to work with.

    More to follow...

    Cheers Mates,

I think the way my AW55-50SN is acting, she's ~60K over an ATF change/flush. I've watched several YouTube videos and spent some time on the Big Transmission Thread here and will begin my search for the Toyota T-IV best price.

Griff - My local Toyota Dealer always had a great price if I walked in and spoke with them. They would give me a discount.

But that was pre-COVID. In the past few years, I’ve run Valvoline Import Multi vehicle with good results. It claims to meet JWS-3309. The past 30,000 miles, in the XC, have been on AMSOIL ATF. Pricey stuff. An experiment. The Valvoline is moderately priced. Synthetic. Available locally, or on Amazon.

I’ve got three cars with this transmission, just bought a fourth, an XC90, and I can recommend the AMSOIL, the Mobil 3309, the Toyota T-IV, and the Valvoline. All of them have worked well. With “supply chain” issues these days, run what you can find at a decent price, that meets JWS-3309. Don’t worry too much about precisely which fluid.

Same as ASTRO, I am buying my ATF from Toyota dealer. i even bring that Toyota fluid to my volvo dealer and tell them to change it for me(when i am lazy and rather pay soneone else for 1/2 h labor and not do it myself)
I recently also bought a vaccum oil change kit from harbor freight and think it might work well for transmission fluid change as well. Especially if you are paranoid as me and changing it every 15-20k.
P.S Recently I discovered that if you use the online part order option of my toyota dealer your parts are coming to be 20% less...check your local dealer.
