    Default test starter in car

    Hi Gang,
    Is there any way to test our starter in the car? 2001 V70 XC

    If you're having a NO START situation where the engine won't even turn over (as if the battery is completely drained), try reaching down into the engine compartment and wiggle the small thin wire that attaches to the starter solenoid. It's a known issue for this spade connection to become loose and corroded. If the engine now turns over, you've found the problem.

    Of course, there's also a big heavy cable attached to the starter which carries full current from your battery. You'll want to stay away from this LIVE wire!

    I was wondering if there is a relay in the fuse box I coulod bypass

    We ended up pulling the starter out of a wrecked '06 XC and installing it , different solenoid mounting screw on instead of push on but fixed that.
    I dropped the old starter then figured to bench test it worked but maybe the shock "tuned it up"\
