Seriously me, what was I thinking. My bad. That's the only way.
Sorry about my ignorance - I'm still a work in progress. LOL!

Sweet pictures, though - nice and clear, with sharp diagrams.

It's all good. I wish I had the internet available when I started turning wrenches - so many mistakes that I could've avoided...

Finally finished and put everything back. Been busy with other things.
However, I connected the battery, started the car, and it sounded bad, like grinding teeth; I turned the car off right away.
What on earth could that have been?

    Cheers

. . . might this be from a not well seated VVT Cam?

After you installed the new timing belt, did you by chance rotate the crank pulley by hand clockwise two complete circles (720 degrees)? Your belt should turn smoothly with no interference. This is one way to see if there are any possible problems with the timing or belt install.

Nope, I did not rotate any of the wheels. I had the intake and exhaust shafts locked at the rear, and the crank wheels at the front marked to the top of the engine. I also marked the crank pulley to the engine. All three wheels were marked and only rotated after the timing belt got installed. I did lots of clockwise manual cranking of the engine to make sure the marks align; that was so tedious. Please any info you might have for what next would help greatly.

Have you hooked up VIDA to see if you've got any new codes?

Would VIDA report any new code since the engine did not have a full turn before I turned it off - from the loud metallic noise.
