Default New to XC70s, need VIDA, how about one of these?

I am new to XC70s, having recently acquired his (2004) and hers (2006) wagons, both with 134K km. I have had Volvos for decades, but it is clear that I will need VIDA to maintain these cars. I managed just fine with my 2000 V70 with an ELM327 dongle and the Torque app, but that won't cut it with these P2s!

Has anyone here tried one of these:

They come with the VIDA software. I have a 64 bit WIN laptop that I was hoping to use with it.

Let me know what your experiences are!

I've never seen an interface other than a DICE unit that can talk to VIDA. Buy one, I'm curious what you get and what actually work for $36. 2014 Vida requires win7 pro 32 or 64 bit, some have been successful with other operating systems.

Any J2534 should work in theory. A cheap fork of xHorse I got for the truck is visible in VIDA's drop-down list for the scanner selection.

One thing to make sure is that the scanner has hardware for both CAN-buses.

It turns out I've got one of these... Nope, it has one CAN controller and one K-Line controller.

Thanks for the response! I will take a pass on this approach. I guess I need to start looking for a VIDA-DICE system...

Vida is the software - and the stolen/hacked version of 2014d (the last year it was produced) is easily found on the internet. Find and download that first - and get it to work. (that's free!) If you can then purchase a DICE unit to be able to plug in and talk to your car.
