ID:	9390 you can see when you raise the hood.
Does anyone have an idea of what this does, fix or other suggestions?
    Thanks for any replies.

Update, took a good look at it, looks like this part on the drivers side has been missing a long time.
I suspect this is a flow diverter to angle defrost flow coming up vertically, to angle the flow to the windshield?
If so, any part number(s) for replacements?
    Thanks again!

Honestly, it looks to me like you just knocked some gunk that was clogging up your windshield drains (hence the ice dam). The black stuff is just the pollen/leaves/dirt mixture congealed. I clean mine out regularly to keep water draining properly.

Yes that looks like an organic clot that popped out with the ice. Even here w/o snow, I have to clean those all the time because of pine needles.

Thank you, since there is an impression on the other side and no round element in the impression, it looks just like what is suggested!!!
The clog was just so perfectly formed!
