Used is a horrible idea. You would be buying equally worn-out components and installing them for a high price. Absolutely not worth it.
4C strut/shock cost is the big driver. I can't think of a way to get around it. For a set of Sachs shocks/struts, balljoints, control arms, spring seats, strut bushing, bellows, and tie rod ends, which I would do as part of a rebuild (labor is about the same, might as well amortize it over a complete set of parts), is about $1,200. Add labor (I do this DIY) and an alignment.
Here's the question, and for the answer, I'll defer to those who have (and Google is your friend): Can you install regular shocks/struts in place of the 4C?
IF so, then you drop the cost in half...roughly...
