    Default Rear Wiper Question

I noticed the the rear wiper occasionally gets stuck in the "open" position and I have to nudge to get unstuck. Before I start opening it up has anyone seen this and what might the problem be?

    Thanks

Usually that sort of problem is the wiper motor itself.

I battled with wife's XC's rear wiper for like a year. I think the motor shaft was seized, nothing was wrong with the cog wheel inside. Last time I disassembled it to lubricate I think I lost one of those flat washers and couldn't remember how it was shimmed in. I said screw it and removed the wiper, and fuse for the motor and pump and installed a glass bung for about $9 on eBay and realized I never really needed a wiper there in the first place. Actually looks pretty slick back there without the wiper arm.

I think there's an "end-of-travel" switch that reverses the polarity of the motor drive. That's where I'd look, or just go to the Pick 'n Pull and get the entire rear wiper mechanism.

You might have a damaged gear inside
