Default Is there a VIN number located on the motor ?

New to the forum. Have an 01 XC70 and love it, I'm wondering if there is a VIN number located on the motor anywhere ? I'm curious if my car has the original engine, if it's not on the motor what would be the best way to confirm original motor ? Thanks !

Thanks but this only shows me the serial number and wouldn't help me confirm if it's the original motor that was in the car. That's why I'm looking for the VIN on the motor so I can match it to my car specifically. I'm trying to find out if the motor was replaced at some point.

No VIN on the motor that I’ve ever found. There is a serial number. Unless you’ve got records back 19 years, I don’t think you’ll ever be certain it’s original.

However, why does that originality matter?

It’s not a ‘69 Chevelle big block or a 1929 Duesenberg. It’s a used car. Not worth much. Never will be collectible.

Uk specked cars MY 01 show the VIN on the dashboard as a stamped strip visible through the windscreen on left hand side
