Default Occassional stumble/misfiire. What's the remedy?

My '06 XC70 with 170k kms (just over 100k miles) occasionally stumbles or misfires. This lasts for a few seconds and is then fine. It doesn't seem to do this on short 10 or 15 minute trips.

I have switched from 91 octane gas to 94 octane and this seems to help a bit meaning it seems to now happen a little less often with higher octane gas.

Is there anything else that I can have my indy mechanic do or check out?

I had similar symptom on my 07 XC70. Many said clean throttle body. To save time i tried easy way. I drilled small 3mm hole in intake tube before throttle body and injected aerosol Sea Foam in hole while running, then capped with screw. It smoked a bit when I drove it afterwards. But problem solved! No more roughness/stumble.

    A couple of thoughts:

    Throttle body dirty.

    MAF dirty.

    Vacuum leak.

I’ve had poor results from cleaning a MAF. But, great results from replacing it with new Bosch MAF. Buy it from Rock Auto. FCP Euro. Amazon. For about $100.

Don’t buy some cheap knockoff MAF. they all suck. Volvo or Bosch only.
