Hi,
I had one of my ignition replaced a long time ago.
Now I just got a code P301. Is a cylinder 1 left or right side when you are looking at a motor (you are standing the front of a car)?
Thank you as always!

I thought #1 was closest to the water pump, but I’ve got no documentation on that...

That's right. I would say common convention has #1 cylinder at the "front" of the engine. Typically where the water pump or crank pulley would be. Now with some of the new engines with things like the cam chains/belts at the rear, then I would think #1 would be at the front of the car. If that type of engine was transverse...well now that is confusing and would suggest looking at "the book".
Cheers,

So I think it's the left one which is right next to timing belt and water pump.
I know I can switch the ignition to find it out, but it's 20F here in NE, so I just replace the one I need to.
Thank you guys as always!
Hi,
Just replaced it and it's running great now. It was the one right next to a timing belt (P301 code) as you guys told me.
I don't remember how I loosen a screw for a cover right underneath of an intercooler hose (underneath of strut bar) last time. I didn't have right tool for it today, so it took 20 minutes to figure it out...
It was cold, but sunshine helped me.
Thank you again guys!
