I am currently on the market for an AWD wagon-type car. (Don't like SUV because of many reasons perhaps already discussed many times on this board)
I've been considering from XC70, Audi 6, and Subaru Outback.
But looks like Cross-Country is a dream car for me.
Now, i'd like to choose between OSD program and a local purchase. I just called OSD and was told that:
1. Base cost of the 2004 model is $30800 (in comparison to MSRP 33870) and that's a still 2003 year price. Once they got new 04 prices, this figure may be increased (any time soon).
2. Only 2004 cars available on this program (all 2003 cars are gone)
3. Earliest time to pick up is June
4. NO MORE free premium package promotion available on 04 models
5. Two free tickets plus one night stay
Now, what can I expect from local dealers? As some people used to say here, deal at Invoice price is not a good deal.
So, is it really worth using OSD program then?
Is it possible to combine whatever deal I make in a local dealership with OSD and free travel or this $30800 price is final for OSD?
I've read some posts here that the dealer's cost + 2% can be considered as a good price.
But I am not sure what is that dealer's cost for a base XC70 configuration? Can anyone tell?
Thanks in advance for your help.
