2004 volvo models

I just read this over at the SwedeSpeed.com forum :

"All 2004 model year Volvo cars will include four years or 30,000 miles of maintenance service in the purchase price. This will help Volvo to be more competitive with BMW, Saab, Jaguar, Lincoln, and Audi that already include maintenance service with their cars. A key difference is that other makers cover maintenance for the duration of the original warranty, while Volvo's plan will be limited to 30,000 miles."

Question - Do OSDers who ordered MY2004 cars get this? And is this even true at all? (obviously it won't be posted on Volvo's site, that would only decrease MY03 sales).

This is a really interesting issue. If in fact maintenance is included on MY04 cars, then I wouldn't see why we wouldn't get it.

If it DOES include the 30K service check then it's worth something as all service checks leading up to 30K are essentially oil/filter changes. If you can negotiate oil/filter changes every 3000 miles and the 30K service then it could be worth maybe $1000. The biggy is the 30K service cost.

My dealership says they've not heard this 'rumor'

 If it does prove to be true I can't see that would hurt Volvo sales as many people like the idea of ZERO maintenance costs for 3-4 years.

My dealership is researching this rumor and will get back to me on it.

Keep fingers crossed on this one.

I posted the quesstion on swede speed as to buyers of 04 with 03 pricing and osd & yannis replied that it was for all 04's and not based upon price--not a free "premium pkg" but "wow"

Steve at Volvo Spy just posted 04 price xc70 $34,460 up $600 probably to take care of service costs.

I also asked my dealer about this before placing my OSD order and he confirmed that OSD orders receive free maintenance as well...I didn't ask about the 30,000 mile service though, that's a good question.  I'll follow up on that...

And after seeing that price increase, I'm glad I got my order in on Monday!

The factory scheduled maintenance services at 7.5k, 15k, 22.5k and 30k miles are free of charge for all 2004 Model Year Volvos. This is for both US purchases and Overseas Delivery US vehicles.

That FREE 30K service is awesome. I don't suppose recent OSDers who bought 2003 models can cash in on this promotional deal, can they ?

The FREE maintenance program is not for MY2003 normal/OSD purchases  

 so my sales person told me today.

Here's the latest info I've received on this freebie.

For non OSD orders

1) $500 discounts on S60 and XC70.
2) Free scheduled maintenance on S80 and V70 for 45,000 miles.

From my ownership of an S80 I would say that item 2) is worth around $1500 assuming oil/filter changes every 7,500 miles and the $$BIG$$ 30K service.
