    Update

I did one of my regular town 200km round trip today in falling 2-3” mix of snow and drizzle weather.

To gather more data points, experience and contrast I left DSTC On, last 80km home. I struggled but maintained STEADY FOOT and let the system do its thing; it maintained traction throughout given cautious gas within the extreme road conditions.

Initial reaction, DSTC does a very good job. Will continue learning.

How does one determine if the Haldex is working?

2007 XC70 is I believe: Haldex III, always 4WD up to 40KM, over 40km "pre-loaded" (what ever that means?) so rear wheels engage "instantly" when the fronts slip? Correct?

Does one determine if Haldex is on by lifting and put in gear?

    Thanks

When my 600' slightly uphill driveway was mostly ice I found 2nd gear and DSTC turned off worked best. But now that the driveway is mostly mud I am finding that locked in 2nd gear with DSTC turned ON, seems to work best.
