Is there a date of manufacture marked on the front struts and rear shocks? I have no history on my 2002 V70XC with 170,000 miles, and I want to know if there is a way I can date my struts and shocks to see if they've been replaced.

Brett, if you use this VIN Decoder web app, and enter your VIN, under "Tech Specs" it will show the brand of front struts assembled into your 2002 in Sweden.
At least that could tell you if they've been changed for another brand.

Do you live close to the ocean? You might tell from salt corrosion pattern if they are origies.
