    While I have not looked at it lately, I am pretty sure that the battery I purchased at the Volvo dealer 8 years ago says "Volvo" on it. Did they stop selling these?

    Like a lot of car parts they are made by companies other than Volvo or any other maker. Volvo will buy their batteries from a battery manufacturer to their specifications with their labels on it.

    Exactly my point. Would you say there is "no such animal as a Volvo blower motor" just because Behr (or someone else) manufactures it for Volvo? My point, though perhaps I was being too obtuse, is that there are "Volvo" batteries just like there are "Volvo" blue box parts, few of which are actually made directly by Volvo.
