Clogged breather system WILL slow it down
Oil around coil and plugs ain't good!
Also remember they slow down in the summer heat

update: replaced the MAF this weekend. just like with the spark plug replacement, there was a little improvement, but still getting some drag. still throwing no codes. I have noticed that the "drag" and very slight vibration occurs once I get beyond 35mph. I am thinking maybe its time to do the PCV next. Also wondering if this behavior has anything to do with the turbo.

If the PCV is clogged, you'd likely have nasty oil leaks, but if you think that's it, do the rubber glove test, or just pull the dipstick out and take it for a drive and see if something changes.

I did the rubber glove test at idle, no inflation. I still need to test it under load. I'll try driving w/o the dipstick and see what happens. Thanks for the tip.

There is no mechanical connection between your foot and the throttle. So, if it feels sluggish, there are three possibilities, in order of likelihood:

1. The engine is running poorly
2. The ETM is dirty and or failing
3. The pedal transducer is failing to accurately send your pedal position.

You've addressed 1. Time to address 2. Remove and clean your ETM.

I cleaned that ETM exactly one year ago. It had given me a lot of grief (weirdly) just in the month of September only, for the past 3 years. Grief in the form of the car going into safe/limp mode, and throwing code for the ETM. I think I will just put a new ETM in at this point. With 227k on it, and its history, its worth replacing. Thanks again for the help.
