Default 2008 Volvo XC70 Trans Oil

    Hello all,
Looking for some guidance here. I'm planning on flushing the transmission oil in my 2008 XC70. I'm having trouble deciding what oil to use.
I know you have to use JWS 3309 for my TF-80SC AWD transmission. I'm looking for a full synthetic, I shopped around and IPD has AISIN JWS3309 conventional ATF. Then I notes guys are using Mobil One ATF 3309 also I had my local butcher do the last trans replacement and they used Valvoline 355. I'm debating using the Volvo brand 1161540
    but is spendy. Thanks

I know for the 01-07 XC the volvo fluid was pricey and was just the same as Toyota fluid but marked up about 50% I used the Toyota fluid no issues at all, check the board to see if it is the same for your car.

You can have complete peace of mind by using the Volvo-branded fluid ($$$). Or, you can use the (arguably) same fluid from Toyota (Type IV) or just buy it from the manufacturer as Mobil 3309 (not Mobil 1). None of these are full synthetic as the transmission does not call for it.

I did my flush with a case of 3309 from Amazon about 10k miles ago - no issues since and I plan to do it again at 90k.

    Gotter Dun!!!

I replaced the transmission oil in my 08 XC70. toma nova & bugeye instructions where a huge help. "Thanks guys"
I purchased 12qt of AISIN ATF from IPD which is just down the road from me. I dumped and flushed the system using the Gibson method. I plugged in my VIDA DICE and
ran the transmission temp past 50C and then checked the fluid level. I'd rather have it over filled then not enough so once the steady stream of fluid coming
out of the drain plug hole turned to a dribble I screwed in the plug. I've went on several test drives and I can tell the transmission shift much more smoothly.

Mobil 3309 here. Our 03 got fresh fluid when the valve body was replaced 15k (stopped the transmission flare). I drained and refilled again at 70k and again at 110k. I'm not a fan of the 100k change any more.
