Hi there, my '98 v70xc has 118,000 miles. It runs great and rides very smooth. I think once these cars get the bugs out and all the little repairs done, they may prove to go a long way (here's hoping). No leaks anywhere and hopefully the awd remains in good shape ~Gerald

Hi slender, thanks for the warm welcome We have been volvoing for just a few months with this used '98. The car is in great shape inside and out and had good service records along with a good inspection report. Basically I'm hoping for another 80,000 miles without spending too much in repairs and plan on doing most of my own basic servicing. I kind of like the more boxy look of the '98 but would someday like an '04 when I can get one about 4 years old or in my price range One thing I love about the '98 is the tranny, smoothest I've ever owned! ~Gerald

my 98 has just over 184k miles. until recently, i have little or no trouble with the car at all aside from an electric air pump motor and the abs module (both routine 98 aches & pains). since february, i have been chasing a drivetrain ghost which i hope will be getting resolved soon. (it doesn't seem to be the bevel gear....it may be the prop shaft.) see my transmission/drivetrain post if you're interested.

99XC, 94.5K miles which is just broken in. My son drives our 87 740GLE which has 275K miles, so I expect a lot more out of the 99XC!
BTW my 03XC has 45K miles. -Dick

Default Right Behind Ya!

99XC with 92,000 miles and going strong. Just replaced a sway bar (typical) and waiting for ETM failure (shouldn't be typical but is.). Only issue I have with the car is the fear I have every time I take it more than 20 miles from a Volvo dealer due to the ETM. When I travel out of state I find the nearest Volvo dealer and get driving directions just in case. Given that, I suggest you don't go to Nova Scotia in your 99-01 XC unless you are near Halifax. That's the only Volvo dealer there.

2000XC with 165,000 miles and an '04 that just turned over 40,000. The 2000 has been the most maintenance free vehicle I've ever owned.
