Then the above was correct, OEM Sachs shocks.
Not very expensive so why cheap out and buy some off brand for less and have them fail at 15-20K miles

Bilstein doesn't make shocks for the XC70. They do make them for the front of the s60/v70 2.5t awd, but they are to short for the XC70.

The XC70 is extremely limited on shocks / struts.

You basically have some crap Sensen struts or Sachs / OE.

Replace coil springs also, the car will be way more stiffer than just with a new struts/shocks

I can't be happier with all new suspension I put few months ago. Car feels like it glides over the road almost without touching it.
    2002 V70 (sold)
2005 XC70 (Telos Road took it. Did a chassis swap)
    2016 XC60 (sold, P.O.S.)

What ever you do (Do not buy the Professional Parts Sweden front struts)

I bought these new cheap off EBay from a shop in Germany and they are complete rubbish.
From day one they had this annoying squeak in the
front end and I didn't believe it could be the struts as they were new and I ended up replacing the entire front end to try to rectify this problem. I replaced strut mounts and spring seats, bump stops, front control arm bushes, end links, I then though about the old saying (You get what you pay for) I stripped down the struts and found when I push down on the strut piston rod it made the same squeak like it's got a dry seal or something but I had sprayed alot of silicone spray on the pistion rod before and it made no difference.

Solution was to buy Sachs struts and noise has gone so I wasted alot of time and Money trying to go the cheap option.... Never again.
