    Question Front Left Door Handle

    Hi,

I had the front door handle on my girlfriend's 2002 XC70 break the other day, it looks like the clips on the back went. I've been looking all over for a matching front left door panel with the correct interior code B951. I haven't had a lot of luck, no salvage yards around have it either. I refuse to pay $300+ for the part from Volvo at this point in the cars life. In some of my search I came across this:

    http://www.amazon.com/LatchWell-PRO-.../dp/B00C3NGH54

Has anyone tried replacing the actual handle, I know it's not available from Volvo. At a quick glance I wasn't even sure how I would get the old one off the panel?

Also if it comes to mixing the panel colors, any panel from an 01-07 V70/S60/XC70 should fit right? As long as I match the speaker grill combo?(she has the base sound system with the one speaker down low)

    I appreciate any feedback.

Talked with them, unfortunately they don't have a matching panel in stock at the current time.

If the clip broke, you can fix the cable end into the handle fitting, and keep.your door panel.

    That's what I did.

Hm, interesting find on the replacement. My clip broke and I've had to "fix" it multiple times, each time the fix lasts a shorter amount of time. If I finally give up on patching it this may be the way to go.

ID:	7516I pinned the cable end into the the panel. The ears of the clip broke, so I heated two small finish nails and drove them through the clip and the cable end. They melted the plastic, which then hardened around them, locking the cable into the broken clip by the handle. Simple. Quick. Sturdy. Zero cost. Sure, the panel is now permanently connected to the cable. If that ever becomes an issue, I'll let you know....but that was over two years ago...

Had the same problem with my xc70..didn't bother me much because it's on the passenger side...tried fixing it but it really won't hold....i'm gonna try this one..maybe drill a small hole instead of melting the plastic...

Yes I tried something similar the last time but my angle must have been off just enough to give it some play in the wrong direction and it still pops out. I need to try again...

Hmmm interesting idea with the finish nails, may have to give that a go.

Silver duct tape and super glue, will last forever. At least lasts 4+ years in wife's V70.
    2002 V70 (sold)
2005 XC70 (Telos Road took it. Did a chassis swap)
    2016 XC60 (sold, P.O.S.)
