Do you know if the timing belt or head gaskets have been changed?

    I don't think these have a belt.
As for the head gasket, no idea. I changed the 2 fan belts
Carfax shows 4 pages of services from a single dealer!
This is a real good one. It's $6700 on Autotrader, KBB puts it at $6300 for a private party sale (I'm a dealer and dealers are asking a lot more for 05s in this condition)
Price is fair enough that if they do take a belt there's room in the price for the new owner to do one (if it hasn't been done).

And Edmunds (who you like to quote a lot when someone is buying a car from somewhere else) puts it at $5662 dealer retail.

Since the timing belt will need to be changed if it hasn't already and there's a 99.9% likelihood that the head gaskets will need to be changed, the buyer of this car has some leverage.

Like I said in your thread highjack. A $4000 car.

I have done my research and yes apparently it takes a belt
Since I have complete records I will call them on Tuesday.
If it wasn't done, I guess I will do it as I don't sell cars that need a major item and we can do and do it properly it far cheaper than what a dealer shop will charge. And Mr. know it all, the head gasket issues are for earlier cars, not 05s. This engine is so quiet now you would not think this is a Subaru. (fixed the heat shields which all seem to make noise, this one now does not make a sound, almost as quiet as a Lexus!
Go look what dealers are asking for other 05s that probably aren't as nice as this one is...FAR more. 4K? go shove that up your behind, 4K is wholesale for a real nice one, go look up auction sale prices!

To the person that inquired, if you are really interested we can work a belt/tensioners/water pump and cam seals into the sale. Also headgaskets are not an issue with 2005s

I've asked you before politely that YOU stay out of my threads, so please honor that request as I never post in your posts.
