Default Polestar - why no love for the 04 and 05 model years?

what is special about the 06 and 07 years to allow Polestar to offer their tunes for these cars? I was under the impression that the ECU is basically the same, but are there differences?

Good question, I'd like to get a flash for an '04.

I'm guessing the additional engine sensors on the later cars helps to ensure safer boosting (at least theoretically).

Polestar thinks car owners with a 10 year old or older car doesnt want to invest so much money in their car.

I really don't know, I asked the same question when I got mine installed.
I can understand the 2004s that's very different electronically but why not 2005s? They're almost exactly the same as a 2005

He said 2004s are very different. 2005s are about the same as the 2006s and 2007s. Lots of updates both visual and electronic went into the '05 year.

As much as I would love a Polestar tune I'm not sure I would want the added stress on my 10 year old motor at this point.....

I'm not that concerned about my motor, the angle gear is why I decided a tune isn't worth it to me.

If you don't launch your XC and don't drive it very aggressively your collar will hold up fine. There is some evidence that no matter what you do all AGs are prone to premature pinion bearing failure due to insufficient lubrication.

such as what..? (not the radio and the center console, ECU and other internal upgrades that would disallow Polestar tunes to be utilized)
