If you just bought it used with 156K miles, I'd say before you spend $1500 to increase power you need to first spend what is needed to get it to "stage 0" and then see what is left for upgrades. That link also has some suggested mods to do after stage 0.

If your parts are fine, I would say remapping.
You don't "turn it up" you shorten or tighten the rod

2000 V70R wife's. Won't sell, now at 148K miles !! and still (almost) perfect.
2000 S70 GLT SE with 29,000 miles!!! A time capsule, V70R front bumper, Volans, etc. SOLD!!! (I Will regret selling this!)
Stage zero first. Plugs, PCV, coils, TCV, filters, fluids, maybe MAF. Make certain the car is performing perfectly before anything else.
Then a tune, or "MAP", would give you the most bang for the buck.

I actually just got quite a bit more umph ot of my 2003 , first was plugs, new air filter and cleaned MAF. This was an immediate improvement.then I went a step further and got IPD silicone boost tube kit(the kit from the intercooler to the turbo 2 pieces) along with silicone TCV tubing kit.all I can say is WOW!!! I can feel the difference its like a new car .best 140 bucks I've spent yet.
I did a few things along with my PCV, like cleaning the the TB, and MAF, along with new air filter and plugs, but the results are great. Much, much better throttle response, from low end to mid end. Still no top end, but that's not an issue for me.
BTW, used Denso Platinum TT plugs. With about 2500mi on them, I can say that they are awesome.
