Will used antenna ring work as a spare, just in case

Hi,
New to my 2001 V70 XC and have read some about the common issues, including the antenna ring. Grabbed an antenna ring of a wrecked V70 in the local salvage yard today. Would it possibly work w/o any programming, as a plug-n-play spare to carry in the glovebox? Or would it not work w/o some kind of special dealer work/sync with my key, etc? I doubt there is a way to test it, but if so, please advise.

Plug and play so if it's good, it should work

Thanks JR! $5 insurance. I was hoping to find a good parts source and a third row seat so I can park the Odyssey and still haul the kids. The only good seat was from a 2000 and I doubt it would fit my 2001.

If you don't mind another newbie question...would it make sense to go back and pull some other common problematic parts to have on-hand, like a newer ETM? Thanks again for accelerating my learning about my "new" XC. Coincidentally, just returned from the High School Cross Country Team Banquet! Love the XC.
