    Default USA vacation Version 2014

This year the vacation trip south was a mix of new never visited and some old favourites.

We left home October Fourth and came back October Seventeenth. Drove a total of just under 7,000 km.
Stops at Idaho Falls Idaho for a night. Las Vegas Nevada for night and then further south to Yuma AZ for three nights. From there to San Diego for three nights and up to Monterey for three nights again. From there back home through central California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and British Columbia. All in all a good trip.

    Let the pictures begin.

Coming into a mountain range south of Great Falls, I think they are called the Beltline Mountains. I have always enjoyed the trip through here and the road following the Missouri River.

Try to ignore the bug splats, they started to get pretty heavy along this stretch of road and stuck with us for a while.

    Nice photo !
I think is very easy and nice drive in that place without other cars.
I hope to come back to USA early , probably near San Diego.

Ask and Yea shall receive. Not to mention breaking it up makes it easier, in what is left of my mind, to view.

Lots of washer fluid but the amount of bug carcasses makes it nearly impossible to clean all of it off. Especially at 70-80 MPH (112-128KPH). Easier to see through the spots rather than streaks. So the windshield gets cleaned best as possible at gas stations when refueling.

The roads look less crowded because in heavier traffic no pictures get taken.

This next set will be Idaho Falls to Las Vegas.

First one on the road in the morning but on the road long enough to take out a few more bugs.

Gas station lunch break south of Salt Lake City which we ate outside. The hills have some nice colour on in places. Hopefully it can be seen. If not then it is a nice picture of a Holiday Inn.

Second night spent in Las Vegas at an off Strip Casino/Hotel called Sams Town. The hotel room was nice, comfortable bed, decent size room and inexpensive. This was our first try for off the strip. Knowing that we were only there for one night we went off strip to save $$. The strip was close enough that we could have driven there in 5-10 minutes. Once there though we did not leave the property.

View from the room looking south east.

    WOW!
It looked for a minute like the Hotel in Las Vegas was still 'Under Construction' with the style of the roof but then I realised it is fully enclosed to keep the Seagulls & Vultures out and away from sharing your breakfast!

While the other pictures of Vegas brought back some happy memories but not from playing 'The Slots' which we stayed away from!

    Two pictures intrigue me....
    DCSF 2215
DCSF 2255 in which the 'Trailer' has the word 'Voltage' enblazoned across the back.

Are they both what we call 'Caravans' over this side of the Pond?

    Thanks for the clarification.

Such a pity that Volvo will not sell Diesel cars in the USA, but looking at the size of those 'TinTents' (AKA...'Caravans') they might just screw up the Clutch or Auto Transmission if they tried towing one!

The first picture, 2215, I think is a trailer trailer rather than 5th wheel trailer and I believe that the second one is a fifth wheel but I am not 100% sure. They are both toy haulers which is, I suspect, why I took them. I haven't seen one with the raised rear area before, picture 2215. The Voltage one is the name brand of the trailer.

    http://voltagehaulers.com/

Toys being ATV's, dirt bikes etc. If you look at the rear of the trailers, it is more evident on the Voltage trailer, you will see that the back of the trailer has latches and is a flip down door so that you drive your toys in and transport them.

    Next batch of pictures.

So after a bit running around Las Vegas we headed out through Henderson towards Boulder City but headed south on highway 95 before we got to Boulder City.

Thanks for the 'heads up' ssicarman.

I thought that the 'Voltage' outfit had something in the back as the Norwegians have a converted Caravan that they tow up the mountains with a 4x4, then open the back of the Caravan and get out their Ski-doo and go zooming off over the hills in the snow!

Nice clear roads again even in the Road Works!
