I have Volvo OEM skid plates on all my XC70's.
I think the Volvo Engineers have a better idea of what;s required for air flow and protection areas.
My 2003 XC70 broke through a culvert and came to rest on the skid plate with tires hanging 6 feet in the air. We put a chain around the ball hitch and jerked the XC70 out with a FarmAll Tractor. No damage!
I always stick with OEM parts or modifications.-Dick

well the skid plate arrived today. over all its not a bad piece but compared to previous ipd designed items the quality is not there. first thing I noticed is the powder coating is not even. I can see light spots in the color. if I didn't do powder coating myself I probably would not be as judgmental. second thing I noticed is that the part was cut with a plasma cutter that needs a new tip. the cuts are jagged and you can see start and stop points on the cut. I do like the functionality of it tho. with holes to drain engine and trans oil. install was simple, the holes don't line up perfectly centered but they are big enough that its not a problem. its a bit thinner than I expected, about 1/16 thick(ill have to measure). the skid plate I had on my Subaru was 1/8" and much better cuts but it was $250. for the sale price of 159$ im good with it. probably would have been a bit more upset if it was the full 200$. now for the pics

    the plate its self

    rough cut

    and installed

took about 10 min to install

Volvo OEM skid plates must be removed when changing oil.
    Do you wonder why?
    Fit and finish, no problems!-Dick
