Was rotating my tires on the 2008 XC90 when I notice this oil. What is that unit and where my the oil be coming from? Ideas?

I would check the power steering pump fluid. If it is low, that is likely the culprit. Common problem with these. I have the same car.
If it's a 2008 with the 3.2 engine and that's engine oil I'd guess the vacuum pump. A seal kit is now available. If it's the car in your "ouch" signature (a t6) - look at the rear cam seals. However both are a long way from the end of the transmission in the picture.
