Default Wondering What Gas Mileage Everyone is Getting CITY/HWY?

My wife drives our '04 XC70 and I've noticed that the gas mileage seems to be low lately. Normal maintenance has been kept up (ie; plugs, filters, oil changes, etc.). When I drive it I have the "Messages" set to AVG MPG and if I drive it for a day or two then the mileage will start to creep back up towards the 20MPG range. Currently it's at 19.4MPG for city driving. I can usually get close to 25MPG for extended hwy trips. When I look on the fueleconomy.gov site and plug in my car it tells me I should be getting 17MPG City & 23MPG Hwy.

I'm just curious as to what others are getting.

Oh, and I did search the site for this question and had negres. So if it's been covered, someone please point me to the post link. Thanks.

Before my tune with the family loaded in I was getting 17mpg City (downtown Toronto) and 24mpg highway, avaraged out to 21mpg overall, that's with moderate acelleration and constant speeds.

I'm getting better milage now, but my average is low because of the fun factor. I'm still seeing 17mpg city, but highway or constant speeds is 26-30+mpg, haven't got a solid number yet on were it stands, but I'm getting ~24mpg @ 75-80mph slightly loaded.

Depends. I often get 17mpg city. I also have a MTE tune which unfortunately for my spirited driving means I will always get 17MPG city. (I call it 'earned' ) On the highway though I do get 25-27 mpg consistently at 70mph. And 22 at 75mph.

Fuel economy determination often is up to 30% on how hard you drive your car. If I really baby my Vovo I can get 20 mpg city and 27-29 highway. But again, the older your car is, and if your maintenance items pile up, you're fuel economy will start to suffer. I.e. spark plugs, trans flush, fuel system cleanings, PCV, TCV, vaccume systems, tires, suspension etc...

I get 25-27 mpg with most (80%) of my driving in a semi rural area with trips of about 10-15 miles. My driving is definitely not spirited and that probably accounts for the high figure. Also, most of the driving is at 6300 ft. elevation. I don't know how that might effect mileage.

I'm getting about 25 mpg to those wee US gallons on average and with a mix of rural highway and village streets driving. That's with a typical load of 2 up, a 100 pound bloodhound, and a back end filled to the brim with our farmers market wares.

    Cheers,
