    Default XC in the Snow

I ended up leaving work late last night, right in middle of a pretty good snowstorm (at least by southern standards). The XC handled wonderfully, although it took me 2 hours to drive 35 miles of mostly 2 lane highway. Saw a lot of cars off the road, in parking lots, etc.... but the XC plugged right along. The most interesting sight was a corvette trying to make it up a hill. Every time he gave it a little gas he went sideways. He eventually gave it up and pulled off the road. This is a pic looking out my windshield- what you see is what I saw, which is not much.

I'm glad you got a kick out of some people's misfurtune, but It's their fault for not driving a swedish car in a snow storm.

It's been fun driving the XC around this winter. I've been seeing (and helping) a lot of people who are stuck. Where I live it's onstreeet parking, so when the plows come along it pretty much boxes your car in, especially if the snow is wet when they plow then freezes over night, no problem for me.

I'll be going up north this weekend to the cabin, along the shore of Georgian Bay, where I've heard some of the road leading to it have had 6' drifts, should be interesting.

    Looks like the Muskokas.

I used to live in North Bay and I sure don't miss snow that deep between first of Dec thru til the middle of April.

    Have fun,

There's a lot this year. One can jump off the roof, free fall about 12', and be fine. Happened to me when I was shoveling... didn't have my cramp-ons on. Just kidding, I had dropped my shovel and jumped off after it as I was too lazy to climb down and around.

You know they make those roof rake things, right. It was my weapon of choice for our Viceroy in North Bay. Getting up on the roof in the summer was bad enough, no way I would have gotten up there when there was 4 feet of snow on them also.

    Cheers,

Yeah we have one sitting around. Couldn't use is at we haven't been up for a month and it was packed prtyy solid. The roof isn't that pitched, and I'm careful with cramp-ons.

That is good... it is indeed a powerful machine that most can rarely comprehend. It would be wise not to become too boastful, arrogant, or conceited as we wield our extreme power over others on the road. Remember it is a vehicle for good.
