Default Loctite equivalent to Volvo anarobic chemical gasket sealant..HELP!

My bevel gear leaks a lot of oil but the AWD works fine and I have got all the seals and O rings to reseal it. I'm not sure if it is leaking from one of the seals or from between the two halfs but I think it is from the seals since it only leaks when the car is driven not when parked. I would like to open it up and reseal it for once and for all.

Since we do not have any Volvo dealers here I can't get the Volvo anarobic chemical gasket sealant, and I can't even get it from else where since it is a chemical which can't not be sent by airmail.

We do have Loctite importers here so I want know which Loctite product is the equivalent of/can be used instead of Volvo anarobic chemical gasket sealant p\n 1161058 or 1161059. Please help since this is the only thing stopping me from starting the job.

Any local parts store that sells Loctite products should be able to order in some anaerobic sealant for you. Try a GM dealer, some of their products use anaerobic as a sealer as well.

Loctite 515 or 518 or Permatex 51813 Anaerobic Gasket Maker. The difference between the 515 and the 518 is the gap that they will fill on the sealing surfaces.

Right so which one do I use for this application? I also read up some where that one of the differences between 515 and 518 is the curing time. Not sure which one cures faster than the other.

You could always do what I did to find you the information that I provided. Crank up your favorite search engine and see what comes up. have a look through the Loctite site and compare the products.
From what I could see of the two Loctite products the main difference seems to be the gap that they will fill and still set.

I'd consult with a Loctite rep, if that's your only option. I don't know where you're located that you can't have the proper stuff sent to you, but there must be a channel you can go through. Nobody here seems to be a Loctite product/formulation specialist on this forum. Sorry!

I have already spoken to the local Loctite rep and they don't seem to know much...he recommended 574 which I know is a no no. Loctite websites also do not give much info about the product... the 515 and 518 are list as flange sealers! I guess I will just get the 515.
