3.2L oil consumption (info collecting thread)

8000 miles represents about 100 million cylinder firings. If you consume a quart or liter in this interval, the engine is consuming 10 nanoliters per firing (1/2500th of one drop). This is an incredible oil efficiency, it's hard to imagine improving upon it. This B6324 engine has near ideal dynamic balance, and this reduces wear and preserves tolerances. I've had 11 Volvos, and this engine, designed by the Swedes, built by Ford in Wales, is the best one yet. That said, the early T6 engines went out without oil pressure sensors, a serious lapse of design.

I have bought a warranty that covers engine trans etc, what steps do you think will allow a rebuild?

The warranty is not a promise to rebuild the engine / tranny. If it costs less to replace with a used engine, that's the max that they'll cover.

I have used 3 quarts in 4000 miles. It is still under warranty from dealer, but the warranty company wants to do a $270 test to diagnose problem before a claim can be made. If tests shows no problem (which is what I am expecting given my luck) I have to eat the cost of the test.

There is no such thing as zero oil consumption. You're likely down a quart at the oil change, or you topped up. 1 quart consumed over 7500 miles is the mark of a quality engine, at 90,000 miles....negligible wear. Shows what is possible with proper care and maintenance.
