i need advice

She seems to have disappeared into the world of possibly buying her family member's (also possibly a POS) Volvo and never to be heard from again until her first issue crops up in a couple of weeks!

I guess she's determined not to listen to good advice before buying

Ah you're back.
Nothing wrong with Volvos, you just need to know what to expect and what to look for in a used one, especially with that many miles.
If you want a wagon, not much else out there that would;
1: Be as cheap
2: Be more reliable

Not many wagons for sale period, much less something that's any good in this price range (3 to 6K) except perhaps some Japanese hatchback thingie!!!

The folks contributing to this forum are usually most generous with expert advice. I've learned over the years to heed and respect their knowledge. We love our Volvos even with all the idiosyncracsies! Because a thread was created asking for advice, even I am concerned about you making the right decision on your next Volvo.

It seems you're already a fellow Volvo fan since another Volvo is under consideration. As you probably already know, choosing the right one can be nerve wracking. Asking for advice was a good move. Will you let us know what happens next now that you have us interested?
