    Default Hard start when cold

Well, winter is coming in... we have a new (!!) trouble with the XC (MY05), sometimes it is hard to start in the morning or after a few hours. Last night it was ridiculous, we parked the car @ 5 PM, then 12 hours later, 5AM, we could crank but it didnt wanted to catch up, as if the fuel was missing or something. We waited a few seconds, then again and it finally started. Something is wrong for sure.

Any idea where I could check ?

Also, about 4-5 hours later, it started fine.

Check battery first(in advance they will do it for free just need to prepare for them the access to the battery in the trunk)
Second step look for fuel pressure(look for directions in 98-00 forum common issue there)
    Third is a spark plugs.

Strange. Yesterday evening and early this morning, it started fine. However the outside temperature is not as cold as sunday morning @ 5AM.

How old is the battery? If it's the original, you might consider getting a new one. Mine started giving trouble at about the 7 year mark.

With the electronics in these cars, correct amperage at load is typically more important than voltage. Might want to get a load test on the battery rather than just checking its voltage. Just a thought.

Load test requires special equipment. Any shop can do it.
