    Default keyless entry/remote got self-reprogrammed

I was swapping rear view mirror from my 01' xc to 01' t5 tonight. When all was done and the negative wires were back on, I wondered which key belonged to the XC, so I pressed the yellow button to light up the external lights while standing next to the XC. The very first remote worked, but the key did not turn in the ignition, so I decided that yellow button was supposed to work on any car; no big deal, so took another key out of the pocket. Once the car was off the driveway, the remote did not lock the it (and instead T5 on the driveway got locked). But the first remote, which lit up the XC, locked up the car.
So apparently, the remotes got re-bound to the opposite cars somehow, may be due batteries terminal removal. This all does not make sense, although I suspect there should be an easy procedure to re-bind a new remote to a car. Nothing popped out in this forums.
    Any ideas?

Take the mirror back off, You can't do what you did, it's tied to the alarm system

    That's not what you said.

    You said... you swapped mirrors
The mirror is VIN tied to the alarm systen and remotes and CANNOT be swapped.
They're all tied together by the VIN, mirrors, remotes, etc

Looks to me like you switched the mirrors: "I was swapping rear view mirror from my 01' xc to 01' t5"...

So, like JRL said, you DID switch the mirrors....

I would try switching them back.

I think he means the remote(or button) part of the key assembly now works opposite from the attached physical 'key'. - So he simply switched physical 'keys' with the remote assembly counterparts...

Jeez JRL - I was simply trying to clarify what I thought the original poster meant.

    Sorry for the confusion caused.

    I swapped rear view mirrors.
After that, the keyless entry remotes would not open the original car, but car to which the mirror was installed. So technically, the remotes also got swapped as well.
I resolved the problem by switching the remotes on the key rings. I own both cars.

Now, apparently I _can_ swap the mirrors. A totally different issue would be if the swap has other implications which I have not discovered yet, like sunroof does not open, or car stalls in straight 23 miles of driving.

I got though my initial question answered, shedding the emotions.

The sunroof works. What's the fuzz?
