    My 2006 with HU-650 has XM radio prep. Will this same prep accept iPad input?

    You mean Sirius prep, NO
    That setup is for the VOLVO factory satallite only
    You need to install a unit like a USA SPEC PA VOL 11 for an iPod, that should work
