Default Rear Wiper Arm - how do I remove it?

This pdf: http://www.v70xc.com/resources/how-t..._replacing.pdf is very useful but like h*ll you just undo the bolt and pull the arm off. I can pull my car along by the wiper arm with how tight the thing is on there.

Reason for asking is that I need to reposition it. About 4 months ago some little vandal ** broke it and I had to buy a new one. The new one was put on (by Volvo) in a bad position, repositioned (by Volvo) lower and now in an even worse position where the farthest half of the blade sits in-between the glass edge and metal. My wiper is new and it's already getting up.

Anybody pull off the arm before? How the h*ll do I do it?

Bump for some help please - really don't want to have to buy another wiper blade after buying one a month ago.

gear puller or tie-rod puller (not a pickle fork..a real puller). Put some moderate presure on the puller bolt, then tap the arm with a urethane or brass deadblow hammer...

Crap. I have none of those tools except the hammer. Maybe Volvo will reposition it for me since they did the work like 4 months ago. "I just saw it drooped lower at some point" lol

When I said tap...I meant just tap...don't hit it hard...I think this thing was simply put on too tight...and a bit of pressure and a mild shock should dislodge it...

Without the puller, it's hard to get steady, even outward pressure on the arm...I don't have any real good ideas beyond that, though, given the outside temp, warming the arm (which is likely aluminum) with a hairdryer, might loosen it a bit on the cold steel post...

Hopefully it would, I was thinking about trying to apply heat but the garage isn't near any outlet so a hair dryer would be a little hard to use out there. Maybe if it sat in the sun for a bit? I;m gonna try dislodging it with a hammer when I get a chance. If not, I'll ask Volvo if they'll reposition it for me

    Default check torque on reinstall

I just replaced the rear wiper arm today. Got lazy and just brought out the socket to do the job and left the torque wrench on the shelf.

Big mistake! Sheared off the bolt, which according to Volvo is an integral part of the wiper motor assembly--have to replace the whole unit.

    Now instead of a $40 wiper arm, it's a $300 wiper motor.

I'm going to pick one up from a salvage yard for less than that. But there's my latest lesson from the school of hard knocks.

So once you get the arm off, don't over tighten it to get it back on.

    14 Nm. No more!

Ouch! I'm sorry about that! I had to go to Volvo because I couldn't get the damned arm off.

Hi, I have the same problem. I wanted to use that kind of "puller" too, but the point of contact (head) is made of plastic, where there are the 2 small washing fluid nozzle, Im afraid to break the whole thing...

Ive been able to save mine. The shaft was stuck in the sleeve. The motor + gears were fine, clean and well-greased. Works like new !
