Condition

The control module receives information from the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) about the fuel / air mixture when idling at both the lower and upper part-load range. If the fuel / air mixture deviates from lamda=1, the short-term fuel trim will compensate for this by adjusting the injection time so that lamda=1 is achieved. When the short-term fuel trim makes an adjustment, the integrator median must be adjusted by the long-term trim. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-262A will be stored when the long-term trim must be adjusted almost to maximum in the idle range.

Have you checked the other possible causes listed by Volvo for that code?

• intake air leakage
• high fuel pressure
• leaking injectors
• contaminated engine oil
• oil level too high
• defective heated oxygen sensor (HO2S)

Are there any other symptoms beisdes the code?

A bad O2 sensor would through off the AFR, which your ECU would try to correct, thus potentially giving you the code if the long-term trim must be adjusted almost to maximum in the idle range.

Check the easy (cheap) ones first and go from there.

Check the intake air , didnt see anything obvious.
Drove the car for 3 weeks no issues so doubt to high of oil level
Contaminiated oil ehhhhh

Maybe the FPR since that was an issue with the 04R's also.

How's engine oil smell? Strong gas odor?
Smoke it... sounds like intake leak.
These friggin things can take a long time to resolve.

Going to swap in a differnet MAP sensor and go from there.

I would've also replaced the MAFS, because they work hand-in-hand with the H02S! Maybe it's the H02S? An old faulty, H02S may not necessarily throw a specific code. At the very least, if you replace this the only thing that will happen is slight increase in fuel mileage.

usually, these things will throw a more specific code:
oil level = you'd know, easy check
intake leak = much harder to detect, usually a smoke test
contaminated engine oil = another easy check
exhaust leak = usually very easy to detect
high fuel pressure = throw a FPR guage on it and find out?
FPR = probably cheap enough to just replace
leaking injector = you'd know, easy check with starter fluid

What made you think to replace the MAP sensor? And it wasn't throwing a code for that which is weird.

It will (i think) speed up the revs at idle when you spray the stuff around the injector seals.
