Found a local Volvo "specialist" in Minnesota who seems quite knowledgable. Was told that between 98 and 99+ that the angle gear seals were different, and that the 98 often lasted longer than the 99+ units beacuse of an extra seal. Was told that a seal and vent could be added to a 99 to decrease fluid leakage and extend longevity as I was told that there was no play in the angle gear shaft on my car. The angle gear uses/leaks very little fluid. Does anyone have any experience with this? Told cost for the job would be $500. As always, thanks for the help!
