Default XC70 and the Milky Way Downunder

Here are some shots from a road tip inland at a town called York / Western Australia, before we went over seas.

Our cute homestead for the weekend.

    Out in the rough

And the milky way. Note the homestead aerial on the right.

It was 1 degrees celcius outside so I got one shot and went inside.

    Ocean_Racer,

This is absolutely spectacular. Judging from the antenna in the picture, you did not use the equatorial mount, which tells me that you have a very dark sky there. Even from Mt. Rainier, we have some light pollution to fight...

I've never been to Australia but one of my dreams is to go there and take pictures of the Milky Way and the Southern Cross! Thanks for sharing... and the red dirt is also very interesting I'd like to see more Australian landscape with your XC70 in them!

    Cheers mate,
I have a few more pics but I wont be able to upload them til tonight at the earliest.
My mount was large plastic garbage bin lol. Just balanced the Canon 40D on the lid.
Yes we do have a dark sky - that photo is true to what we can actually see with our own eyes when you're 100km inland from the city.

    Hi,
I use a CPL filter, but our Australian skies are that vivid blue anyways .
